Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 98
The Romanee-Conti was picked on 25th September and cropped at 19hl/ha. The clarity on the bouquet is absolutely astonishing. It is very subtle and I suspect that if it were included in a line-up of Pinot Noirs it would probably be overlooked. It has the most mineral-rich nose I think I have ever encountered on a Romanee-Conti at this stage: flint and granite notes infused into the crisp red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with extremely fine: lacy tannins, pure almost tart red fruit and a profound edgy finish. If the 2009 was more a oeglitzya , the 2010 is a return to a more classic Romanee-Conti that speaks of its terroirs with immense clarity. Weightless and ethereala think of Anne Hathaway in Les Miserable (but scrubbed up of course.) Total production is 386 cases. Tasted January 2013.
